I love beans and cornbread, and so do my kiddos. I've been wanting to try mixing things up by using white beans and this recipe was a good one. I used leftover ham I had frozen from Christmas. Ours was a sweet ham, so it added a little bit of a sweet taste, but it was still good. Next time, I'll use a savory ham. Either way, this one is staying in my keeper folder!

1 lb package dried northern beans
1/2-1 pound ham, diced or chopped

6 cups water
salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
Rinse and sort the beans removing any bad beans or pebbles. Add the the rinsed beans, onion powder, and ham to the crock pot. Add water. Cover and cook on low about 8 hours, until beans are tender. During the last hour, add salt and pepper. Serve with cornbread.
