Grilling on a Budget and How I Cook My Steaks

I was recently contacted by Walmart to "grill on a budget." Last week I offered you guys a chance to win a gift card to Walmart. Well, they also gave me one so I could do a post on how to grill on a budget. I was also able to try out Walmart's new USDA steaks. I tried out the NY strips. While flavorful, they were a bit tough in my opinion. I would like to try another cut that is more tender to see if they are better. For my budget, I paired my budget friendly steaks (you could choose burgers or chicken as well) with hot crash red potatoes, grilled corn on the cob, and roasted zucchini and yellow squash. When buying in season, fruits and vegetables are very economical choices, which other than the steaks, my meal consisted of all vegetables that are in season and priced great at Walmart!

Perfectly Grilled Steaks

Ingredients:
steak of your choice
olive oil
Kosher salt
freshly ground black pepper

Directions:
Heat grill to medium high heat. While grill is heating prepare steaks. Brush steaks liberally with olive oil. Season steaks with kosher salt and fresh ground black pepper. Once grill is heated, lower heat to medium low and place steaks on grill. Grill for 5-7 minutes, flip to other side, and continue to grill until desired doneness is achieved.
